Hoopfest 2010

For the last four years, we have made the trek over to Spokane the last weekend of June for Hoopfest, the world's largest 3 on 3 basketball tournament with almost 7,000 teams participating.  Cody has played with team Willie Nelson Mandela since the beginning.  Team Willie Nelson Mandela consists of Tom, Monty, Cody and David.  Tom and David are my brothers and Monty is their good friend.
The guys ended up with a 2-2 record and ended up winning the "consolation bracket", meaning the "best of the worst" teams :).  They had a good attitude about it and had a fun time regardless.  Here are a few highlights from the tournament in pictures...
During the guys' last game, Cody had the ball when he spun around and one of the opposing teams players happened to be right there.  He hit his nose really hard on Cody's elbow.  You could hear the cracking sound of his nose breaking from a long ways away.  And then there was lots of blood.  Apparently the poor guy had broken his nose 3 weeks prior, so it was tender as it was.  The guy with the broken nose knew it was an accident but some of his teammates insisted that Cody had done it on purpose?! There was a bit of an argument between teams and it was pretty funny how many "security" people were called in.  It created quite the scene and there was a little crowd that had accumulated.  Here are the security people keeping an eye on things and the clean up process...
Despite the mishap, congrats team on another good year!
I always enjoy cheering the guys on and have enjoyed looking back at the past four years of Hoopfest in terms of mine and Cody's relationship - the first year we were dating, the second year we were engaged, the third year we were married, and this year we're expecting baby! We're looking forward to bringing baby with us next year to cheer her dad on!
According to my pregnancy books, my uterus is currently about the size of a basketball at 27 weeks.  I think that looks about right!
We love returning to Spokane and seeing lots of our Whitworth friends that we usually don't get to see.  I was able to meet up with some friends for happy hour when we got over there.  It was so good to see these girls!
We loved getting to hang out with Carly and Neal and seeing their adorable boys too.
Here's to another fun weekend at Hoopfest!
