We spent a great week with my parents at their house in Turlock, California a few weeks ago. The girls were thrilled to hang out with their grandparents and especially loved playing in their pool every day. We packed a lot into the week and loved our time spent with my parents!
First stop off the plane...In-N-Out!
And then the girls immediately wanted to get in the pool as soon as we got to grandma and grandpa's house...
Reading bedtime stories with grandma...
Cody and my dad worked during the week, so my mom and I took the girls to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was a lot of time spent in the car both ways but the girls did great and loved the aquarium.
Stop on the way at Casa de Fruta...
The beautiful aquarium...
Fun to see whales spouting out in the bay in front of the aquarium...
Our early riser, Ella, spent her mornings with Grandpa...
More time out in the pool...
Helping grandma pick fresh grapefruit from her trees...
A few family pics after dinner one night...
My mom and I took the girls on another adventure to Oakland to visit a quaint little amusement park called Fairyland. Very old and charming and perfect for the girls' ages ;)...
Sliding down Jack and Jill's hill...
Lucy was tall enough to go on this little ferris wheel all by herself (grown ups weren't allowed). Since Ella didn't want to go, she stood in line by herself looking so grown up!
Cody and I celebrated our 7th anniversary while we were there and we were able to take off to San Francisco for 24 hours without the girls. It was so fun to get away and spend some time in one of my favorite cities! We stayed at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel and were able to Uber around the city to do all my favorite things - Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghiradelli Square, shopping at Union Square and dinner at a great steakhouse.
First stop at Pier 39...
My absolute favorite lunch while in SF - clam chowder bread bowls at Boudins Bakery...
Followed by at stop at Ghiradelli Square for milkshakes...
Ready for our anniversary dinner at Harris' steakhouse...
Pre-dinner drinks at the hotel bar...
Sea lions at Pier 39 the next morning...
Alcatraz in the background...
Such a sweet surprise to find my mom and the girls had made an anniversary cake for us when we got back!
While we were gone, the girls had the best time getting spoiled by my parents - balloon creations and shaved ice at the Farmer's Market...
Ella had remembered visiting the Hillmar Cheese Factory on our previous trips to Turlock and couldn't wait to go back...
Last swim before we headed home...
Thanks for a fun week mom and dad!!
