I really feel like I just started doing monthly posts for Lucy so I'm not sure how it's possible that this is her final monthly post! How is she already ONE!? The past year has flown by and we have fallen more and more in love with our sweet Lulu everyday.
Lucy's 12 month check up stats:
Weight 24 lbs. 14 oz. - 96th percentile
Height 29.5 inches - 60th percentile (although her doctor thinks she was measured wrong as that would mean she hasn't grown in height since 9 months, and clearly she has)
Head circumference 18.7 inches - 96th percentile
She's started doing so many new things this month that I wanted to remember. Excuse my rambling!
I love watching her learn new things literally everyday. This is such a fun age as she's changing and learning so much. It also makes me sad that the "baby" days will quickly be behind us as she'll be a toddler before we know it. I have a feeling our easy baby will be handful as a toddler!

- She quickly learned how to climb the stairs and does a mad dash for the stairs anytime she can. She hasn't mastered going down on her own yet, so she usually crawls up a few stairs, turns around to sit or look at me chasing behind her and tumbles down a stair. Ella is my "helper" laying down across the stairs to block Lucy from crawling up if she sees Lucy's headed that way and I'm not right there ;).
- Lucy is super mobile these days. She does a speed crawl, and is into everything. Maybe I just blocked it from my memory with Ella, but I don't remember her being so quick to get into things. It's impossible to leave Lucy for even a few seconds on her own because she inevitably will be chewing on a cord she's found, in the fireplace, on the stairs, playing in the toilet water, torturing the dog, or eating dog food. She cruises on all the furniture and gets around pretty quickly using her stroller or walker. She's starting to get more confident taking steps on her own. She took her first 5 or so steps on April 6th, 9 days before her first birthday. We got to witness them the night before we left for Hawaii - good timing Lulu! She's taken quite a few steps at a time on her own and can walk the distance of a room, but then usually ends with a lunge forward into our arms. She's definitely starting to get the hang of it, but often prefers crawling as she's faster at it. I'm sure she'll be walking all over soon!
- She's become obsessed with Lily (and all dogs). When Lily goes outside, Lucy watches her from one of the windows the entire time and gets really excited when she sees her out the window. Lucy loves crawling over to Lily to "pet" her while unsuspecting Lily is laying in her dog bed. Lucy hasn't quite figured out how to be gentle, so we have to quickly separate Lucy from Lily before Lily snaps at her.
- Lucy makes an "ooooo-ooooo" monkey sound anytime she gets excited about something or wants something out of reach. It often happens when Lily is laying on the couch or she sees her sippy cup and can't reach it.
- She's done great transitioning to whole milk, which thankfully she loves and she does a straw cup or sippy cup like a pro. She is almost 100% weaned and only nurses before bed in the evenings - more of a comfort than a need for both her and I.
- She can identify her family members by pointing to each of us when asked where we are. She waves or points to everyone and continues to be a huge flirt with her big toothy grin. She gives the cutest open mouth kisses when we ask for them.
- She LOVES bath time and will often crawl to the tub, stand up, and point to the tub while making her "ooooo" sound. She is crazy in the tub crawling all over and splashing in the water.
- She often will eat more than her sister at meal time - the girl can eat! She started out being a slow eater with solids, but has quickly made up for that. She's less picky than Ella was at this age, and I'm still amazed that she'll eat meat (mostly because Ella is still mostly a vegetarian - with the exception of chicken nuggets). She eats pretty much anything we're eating, but her favorite foods are turkey, any sort of noodles (including mac and cheese), blueberries, yogurt, and string cheese. She dislikes bananas and will spit them out.
- She sleeps 12 hours every night and rarely wakes up.
- She's starting to understand us as we can ask her to go get her ball and she'll go find it, or we ask her to give her baby doll a kiss and she'll find the doll and smother it in kisses and hugs, or we ask her to get her binky and she'll find it in a little cubby where we've hidden it. She has learned to shake her head for "no" when she doesn't want something or something she wants get taken away. She shakes her head vigorously, and often!
- She is the best little snuggler, especially right before or after a nap. Cody and I both love it that she'll lay her head down on our shoulder and tuck her arms in. She'll stay that way until we lay her down, and it often happens that she'll fall asleep with her on our shoulder. I know our days of snuggling or her sleeping on us are numbered so we try to enjoy it whenever we can!
- She is a total lover/hugger - not only with her baby dolls, but with any baby friend that is smaller than she is. I really think she sees them as dolls and will hug and kiss other kids to the point where the other child often ends up in tears! Apparently she has a lot of love to give ;).
