Seattle Summers

I love Seattle in the summer.  Especially the month of August when we finally get the hot, sunny weather we've been waiting so long for!  It makes it worth the other 10-11 months of overcast, crumby weather :).

Grammy and Grandpa Lamens came over during the first weekend of August which happened to be very HOT.  Ella got to show off her soccer skills to them as they joined us for Lil' Kickers and she got to spend some quality time with just them when Cody and I went out for our anniversary. We spent a fun Sunday morning with them in Seattle riding the ferry to Bainbridge, feeding the seagulls after lunch at Ivars, and riding the Seattle Great Wheel.

August in Seattle also means the start of pre-season Seahawks games!  Even though we had two toddlers with us who were up way past their bedtime, we had a blast going with the Ehrilichmans. Thanks guys for a great night!

Ella and I have also enjoyed getting to take some fun adventures with Cody when he delivers his EllaMenoPea step stools in the Seattle area.  We made a trip to West Seattle last weekend for a delivery and couldn't pass up the opportunity to enjoy Alki beach on a hot summer day.

Four Years!

Cody and I have been married for a wonderful and blissful four years!  I've said it before, but I am truly grateful to be married to an amazing husband who is also a very hands-on, loving daddy.  I'm so lucky to be married to my best friend.  It's amazing to me that we've known each other for twelve years now (met when we lived in the same dorm our freshmen year at Whitworth!) and have been dating/engaged/married for about half of that. Even though there were no pinatas this year, we still had fun celebrating ;).

Our actual anniversary was on August 2 so we started the celebrations by having a low-key picnic dinner at Pine Lake Park for one of their summer concerts.  It was wonderful to spend a beautiful summer evening with our little family just enjoying quality time together.

Ella was thrilled about getting the chance to sit in a fire engine
One of the firemen asked how old she was, and she held up her two fingers (we've been telling her she's almost two).  We think it's funny that she holds up her thumb and pointer finger to show 2!

The following weekend Cody's parents came over and we were able to leave Ella with them and go out and celebrate our anniversary on a wonderful date night.  Just like last year, we went to our favorite restaurant in Seattle, Daniel's on Lake Union.  It's where we've gone for many celebratory occasions, including our first "friend date" (Cody pulled out all the big stops while trying to "woo" me), where we went the night we got engaged, some anniversary dates, and a few other memorable dinners.  It's a place that holds some special memories for us, not to mention the amazing steak dinners we've enjoyed there.  We went to see Rent at the 5th Avenue after dinner and enjoyed being downtown on such a beautiful, warm evening.

Love ya babe! Cheers to many more years to come!
