Pumpkin Patch

We braved the rain and made a trip to Bob's Corn in Snohomish for some wet and muddy fun picking out pumpkins with the Magnussons.  We only lasted so long, but being cold and wet at the pumpkin patch made the grilled cheese and tomato soup afterwards at the Magnussons house taste that much better!

Our usually "no mess" girl loved splashing in the puddles and mud!

The next night Cody and Ella carved our pumpkin.  Ella was happy to watch and supervise her daddy, but wanted nothing to do with touching the gooey insides or seeds :).

Lake Chelan

We met up with the Pickering family in Chelan for a wonderful weekend away.  Lake Chelan in the fall is really quite beautiful...all the leaves have turned colors, there is a cool crispness in the air, and we practically had the whole place to ourselves.  We rented a great house on Wapato Point and had fun apple picking, swimming, playing miniature golf, and snuggling the newest addition to the Pickering family - sweet little 6 week old Lauren.

Exploring the playground and the beach area...Ella and Benjamin

Ella couldn't get enough of Lauren!  She is obsessed with all things baby and Carly was so sweet to let Ella hold Lauren, help change her diaper, and give Lauren her binky :).

We set out to find a pumpkin patch that I had found online and that the people at Wapato had recommended as being great for kids.  When we got to "Sunshine Farm" it turned out to be just a little country store/market with a handful of pumpkins out front. When we inquired about the "hay rides, pumpkin patch, face painting, and farm animals" that were advertised on the website, we were told that they had that kind of stuff years ago, but apparently they hadn't updated their website for years! Ha!  Oh well.  We made the best of it by finding a cute apple orchard and the kids loved picking and eating the apples.  As I was looking through all the pictures of apple picking, I noticed that Ella either has an apple in her mouth, or a mouthful of apples in nearly every picture...she clearly loved it!

It was nearly impossible to get a picture of these four all looking in the same direction :).  Andrew, Levi, and Benjamin are so, so sweet with Ella and she loved hanging out with them all weekend.

The kids and dads spent the afternoon swimming while Carly and I got to sit by the side of the pool and catch up on life while admiring the sweet smiles from Lauren...

Thanks Pickerings for a fun weekend!  Love you guys!

Hair

I can't believe how different Ella looks with straight hair!  I blew dry and straightened her hair one morning  after many requests day after day from her saying, "Ella's turn!" while she watches me do my hair each morning.  She sat very still and was surprisingly patient.  Her hair is really so long, but with her tight curls it makes it looks so much shorter.  Both Cody and I decided it looked like she was wearing a wig :).  Although it was fun to see how different she looked, we were happy to give her a bath that night and get our curly haired girl back!  A few more pics of her long hair...
