November

November somehow flew by and I can't believe it's almost December!  I wanted to include a few highlights of the last month before the busyness of the holiday season is here!

Ella is making progress in the potty training department...not all the way there yet, but we're getting closer.  I'm determined to have her potty trained by the time baby #2 arrives in April!
Proud dad moment with her magazine choice...
Ella and Sophie got to have their first sleepover together at our house when we did a baby-sitting swap with the Magnussons.  Love these girls together!

We celebrated Grandma and Grandpa's birthday a little late - they were in Hawaii on their actual birthdays!

Cody and I went to the Meissners annual pre-Thanksgiving party - so great to catch up with friends we haven't seen in awhile.
Ella's "auntie Jill" and "auntie Tricia" - our amazing friends who watch Ella for us on a weekly basis.
We celebrated Thanksgiving with my family at my parent's house and were lucky enough to be joined by Cody's parents as well.
Cody and Rob ran the Seattle half marathon the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Way to go guys!  So proud of you!  Brooke and I took the girls down to cheer on their daddy's and watch them cross the finish line.

Baby Lamens #2!

Baby Lamens #2 is on his/her way!  We are beyond excited that we will be welcoming the newest addition to our family in April 2013.  We've had to keep Ella in the dark for the past 3ish months so she wouldn't spill the news before we were ready to tell, but she is starting to talk more and more about it and we are excited to see her take on the role of "big sister!"  She LOVES her baby dolls and is obsessed with all the babies we know, so we'll hope her attitude is the same towards her new sibling!

So excited to see a positive pregnancy test back in August!

During my pregnancy with Ella, I kept a journal throughout the first trimester of everything we went through (first trimesters have not been easy for us!) and I was glad I had it to look back on and reference this time around.  Since this blog has more or less become my journal, I wanted to write some things here so I'd remember in the future.  During this pregnancy, the first 8 weeks were great.  I wasn't feeling too nauseous as I had with Ella and things felt easy.  I often questioned if I was really pregnant because besides being tired, I didn't have a lot of the typical "pregnancy symptoms" (Cody may disagree and tell you I was overly emotional/hormonal!). With Ella, I had been to the ER twice by 7 weeks because of bleeding/spotting, had had multiple ultrasounds and tests which led to lots of stress.  It turns out, that seems to be what my body does.  With this pregnancy, the first 8 weeks were great and we thought we had avoided all the "bad stuff".  Then at 9 weeks the bleeding started and we had a pretty bad scare. My doctor got us in right away, and we were relieved to see a heartbeat on the ultrasound.  I was put on modified bed rest and told to just take it easy.  My doctor just wanted me to be an incubator for the first trimester.  I wasn't supposed to work out or lift anything heavy, including Ella.  Easier said than done!  It's not so easy to just sit around when I'm on my feet all day at work and when I'm with Ella I'm constantly running after her and lifting her in and out of her carseat, her chair to eat, her crib, etc.  The spotting continued for weeks afterwards, but my doctor didn't seem too concerned as I had been through this with Ella and everything turned out okay with her. Thankfully all seems to be okay now that we are into the second trimester and we're hoping that things stay that way!  We are trusting and praying for the best and find comfort in knowing that God is in control and that He already knows our little one and is forming this miracle inside me.

We were thankful and relieved to have a great 12 week appointment complete with a 3D ultrasound of our little guy/girl...what a cutie! :)
Ella thinks the following picture looks like a sea otter :).

Cody has been amazing throughout everything and he continues to be my rock.  He has arranged/rearranged his work schedule on multiple occasions to be at every appointment with me and even canceled a work trip just to be close to home and be able to help out when things were stressful.  I know it hasn't been easy on him, and I'm so thankful for the amazing husband and father that he is.  He has continued to be my knight in shining armor...like when I was super hormonal and in tears one morning before work because I was starving, yet nothing we had in the house sounded good to eat.  The next thing I know he shows up in my classroom with a Starbucks latte and their oatmeal.  He knew what I would want to eat even when I didn't :).  Or the time when I texted him in the middle of the day from work telling him I was craving chocolate (specifically a 3 Musketeers bar), and a few hours later a 3 Musketeers bar shows up on my desk with a sweet little note.  Or when I felt like I needed orange juice late at night and he made a run to the store just for gallons of orange juice.  Or when he gets up early with Ella on weekends and lets me sleep in as late as I want and then makes me breakfast.  Have I mentioned how great he is!?  Love you babe!

We had Ella get in on the surprise of telling our family and close friends.  She got pretty good at wearing her "best big sis" shirt and covering it up with a jacket until we saw our family members or friends.  Then she would take off her jacket and say, "Surprise!"  She now asks is she can wear her "surprise shirt" all the time!

She could hardly wait to tell Auntie Emily and Uncle David!

We had fun announcing our news to my parents with these pictures...

We can't wait to find out if Ella will be getting a little brother or little sister!

Halloween

Whoo! Whoo!  Happy Halloween from our little owl!  My mom and I had fun creating Ella's costume this year - thanks for all your help mom! Cody and I took her down to the park by our house to snap a few pictures of her in costume.  She was being especially silly and smiley, hence the reason for more than just a few pictures :).

 Flapping her wings...

 Saying, "whoo, whoo!"

On Halloween, I took Ella into my class for our Harvest Party - thankfully it was my non-work day so I didn't have to deal with 23 sugar high first graders after the party!  That evening we went to the Magnussons house on Queen Anne so Ella could do some trick-or-treating with her buddies Sophie and Nathan.  Ella got into trick-or-treating and made out pretty well in the candy department.  However, she now has an intense fear of anything with a mask (can't say I blame her, there were lots of creepy costumes out there), and clowns (thanks to a teacher at my school...can't say I blame her on this one either, clowns creep me out!).

Our attempt at a picture of three 2-year-olds that were just given glow sticks...ha!
Probably the best pic I got of the three...Nathan the football player, Sophie the cowgirl, and Ella the owl
