8 Months

Lucy is 8 months old! I love having a baby this time of year - all the snuggles, dressing her up in holiday clothes and big warm, fuzzy bunting suits, and seeing her take in the lights and sounds.  But there's also a lot of holiday decorations to put up higher or put away so she doesn't get into things!

At 8 months, Lucy is a little tumbleweed when it comes to rolling around and has managed to snag a few ornaments off the tree when she gets close enough.  She's starting to get her knees up to do a little scooting army crawl, but isn't full on crawling yet.  She's usually most happy sitting up and playing with toys and doesn't hesitate to do a lean, roll, head dive or face plant to get a toy that is just out of reach.  She chews on everything with her two little teeth (board books and apples or pears are favorites).  She's still not a big fan of eating solids, but is now more interested with at least putting Mum-Mums and puffs in her mouth. She's still resistant about getting purees in her mouth, but when we do manage to getting anything in, she'll at least swallow rather than immediately spitting it out like she was doing.

This is probably way too much information, but for my memory's sake, Lucy is our pooping machine.   At least we know she's healthy!  90% of the time, she needs an outfit change because she blows out or leaks out.  Ugh!  It's so bizarre...she'll almost always poop when we put her in her carseat and head out somewhere.  I don't know if it's the angle that she's sitting in the carsesat, but somehow she manages to leak out of her diaper almost every time.  So that makes for lots of fun diaper/clothes changes in the back of the car or in the nearest public bathroom wherever we go.  It adds on an extra 15 minutes everywhere because it's an entire outfit change, not just a diaper change.  It also makes for lots of loads of laundry!  I'm hoping this will change once she's eating more solids.

Lucy's favorite thing is to make a loud, long yelling sound (we call it her singing).  It's not that she's mad, just testing her vocal chords and finding her voice.  I get the funniest looks when we're out doing errands because people assume she's upset and that I should be doing something about it :).  Ella gets really annoyed when she's trying to talk to me in the car, but Lucy is so loud we can't talk over her!  She's also starting to make more pronounced sounds in her babbling.

A few favorite pics from the last month...

Checking out all the presents up close...
Forget the gifts that came in the box, the box is way more fun!
