I've been so bad at keeping up with the blog - poor Everett won't have nearly the documentation that the girls both had, because....third child! :) He is seriously the best baby ever - goes with the flow, smiles at anyone who smiles at him, is super squishy and snugly, and eats and sleeps like a champ. We LOVE this kid! He's just growing and changing way too fast. A quick recap on Everett's monthly pictures and milestones for my memories sake and because it's all already starting to blur together!
2 months old: 25 inches long (99th percentile), and 14 pounds (81st percentile)
Milestones at 2 months:
- Genuine smiles (6 weeks)
- Making eye contact and tracking (especially watching his sisters play, dance, move)
- Waking up 2 times a night on average, eating, then going back to sleep without crying
- Likes to be held or worn in the Ergo
- Is easy going around new people - has been great for sitters and grandparents and takes a bottle no problem when mom is gone
Milestones at 3 months:
- Has started laughing - his sisters make him laugh more than anyone
- Lots of eye contact and focuses very well on people
- Is waking up 2-3 times a night, usually not mad or crying, just awake and wanting to hang out, which makes for some long nights (often awake for 1-2 hours at night at a time) and often sleeps in our bed (his sisters never slept with us)
- Sleeps best swaddled and in a bassinet in our room
- Loves to be worn in the Ergo and is often the only way to get errands done or meals made
4 months: 27.24 inches long (100th percentile) and 18 pounds (95th percentile)
Milestones at 4 months:
- Content playing on a playmat by himself for good stretches at a time
- Loves interacting with people and being part of the action
- Is content/happy being held on someone's lap where he can see what's going on
- Gets excited and grins hugely when anyone smiles at him
- Loves being face out in the Ergo so he can see what's going on
- Takes naps facing inward in the Ergo and will just put his head down and close his eyes when he gets tired
- Usually takes 3 naps a day around 9am, 12pm, and a catnap around 4pm
- Grabs for toys hanging down on his bouncers or playmats and hangs on to them
- Tolerates a bit more of tummy time
- Mimics sounds
- Belly laughs with his sisters
- Discovered a fun squealing noise he can make
- Coos loudly
- Was moved to his crib in his own room and the swaddle was replaced with a sleep sack
- Started sleep training - cried for 30 minutes when first putting him down the first night, and then none the 2nd night, and on and off for the next few weeks of sleep training
- During sleep training, often would wake up and cry around 4am before putting himself back to sleep (and sometimes be awake for an hour or more until going back to sleep)
- Weaned off of night time feedings over the course of 2-3 weeks, with the the exception of a dream feed before mom goes to bed
- Does fine with formula (our only baby to do formula!) and breastmilk from a bottle

Milestones at 5 months:
- Is in a great routine/pattern of eat, play, and nap in a 3-4 hour cycle during the day
- Naps great in the carseat or Ergo and doesn't usually cry when falling asleep
- Naps are often on the go, but we try to do at least one "non-moving" nap at home each day in his crib
- Gets woken up from the majority of his naps to go pick up his sisters as their various activities

- Right before 5 months, he slept for the first time through the night without making a peep from 7pm-7am (still fed during a dream feed around 10pm, but in a light sleep)

- Whimpers when he gets tried, bored or hungry
- One of the only times he cries hard is if he thinks he is going to be fed, for example, after a nap, and I set him down to change his diaper or do something else first before feeding him (pretty funny how mad he gets when he expects to be fed :))
- Did great with bottles with dad for a full weekend when mom was gone on a girl's weekend
- Blows raspberries
- Had his first taste of solids (rice cereal mixed with breastmilk)
- Getting the hang of cereal and trying new foods, like sweet potatoes and peas, by opening his mouth for the spoon eating a few tablespoons each day
- Sitting up in the highchair
- Will often stare at strangers until they look at him, and then grin hugely when he makes eye contact
- Grabs at anything and everything in front of him - often plates, cups, or silverware when being held at the table or his sister's hair (and he has a strong grip!)
- Going through a growth spurt a few weeks before turning 6 months and wanting to eat around the clock, including at night again
- People often ask if he's really always "that happy and smiley"...YES he is! :)
