Five Year Old

 

It's hard to believe Ella is already FIVE! Five sounds like such a big kid number and it's hard to believe five years have already flown by.  She really is one of the sweetest kids I know and we are so proud of who she is!  She has the biggest heart, and is so kind and sensitive to those around her.  She is a huge people pleaser and perfectionist (must be my child!), and thrives on rewards and praise.

At her five year check up, she was in the 78th percentile for weight and 88th percentile for height - no surprise coming from tall parents!

Ella is thriving in Pre-K this year.  She goes in the mornings, five days a week and absolutely loves it.  We recently had a brief goal setting conference with her teacher, and her teacher had the nicest things to say about how she is a role model and leader in the classroom, and can always be counted on to set an example for other kids, despite being the youngest one in her class.  In discussing areas of improvement, her teacher said, "You tell me! I can't think of anything!" We hope Ella continues to build self-confidence and grow her leadership skills, but more than anything I want her to continue to love learning and love going to school.

Ella LOVES to draw, color, and write these days.  She spends most days during quiet time drawing pictures and writing love notes to us.  She often gets up before we do on weekends, will go directly to the playroom and make a ton of cards before we wake up.  She then slips them under our door for us to find when we get up.  Or she'll leave sticky notes around the house that say "I love mom!"  or "I love daddy!"

Since our mornings are often rushed to get out the door and Cody often leaves for work before the girls are up, we decided to do a "birthday breakfast" for dinner the night before Ella's birthday so we could all celebrate together...
