Hoopfest 2011

This is the fifth year in a row that Cody and I have made the trek to Spokane the last weekend of June for Hoopfest.  It's fun to think of the last few years we have gone over when we were dating the first year, engaged the second year, married the third year, pregnant the fourth year, and with Ella this fifth year!  This year was different for a couple of reasons:
1) Cody had previously played on a team with my brothers and their friend but they couldn't make it over this year, so he joined up with team Mose in Socks (friends from college).
2) Going with a baby was very different!  We packed a lot more, navigated crowded streets with a stroller, squeezed in naps for Ella in between games, and were sequestered to our hotel room by 7:30pm for Ella's bedtime (Cody was kind enough to stay in a dark hotel room one night so I could go out with Carly - thanks babe!).

We got to enjoy dinner at Twigs with the Pickerings
Team Mose in Socks - Chris, Neal, Cody, and Jonathan
A group pic of the team, plus wives and (some of the) kids - Cody and me (with Ella), Carly and Neal, Jonathan and Amy (with Clara), Chris and Stephanie (with Quinn)
Some action shots during the games

Ella was quite the cheerleader for her dad

We enjoyed a team BBQ at a park in between games

Ella was thoroughly entertained by all her friends during the games!

Andrew was the best cheerleader for the guys!  I love the picture that he drew of the team - quite an accurate picture - Cody is the big guy in the middle ;)...
I was so happy that we got to see Doug and Sarah (one of my college roommates) and their adorable kids - Addi, Avery, and baby Owen who was just 2 weeks old!
It was also so good to see another one of my college roommates, Meghan and her cute little girl, Kendall.  Ella and Kendall were born just two months apart and Meghan and I are convinced they're destined to be future roommates at Whitworth!

Loved getting to hang out with Carly!

The wives (minus Steph) cheering on our hubbies
Ella proved to be quite the trooper napping while we were out and about and sleeping just about anywhere despite the blaring music from the loudspeakers, tons of people, whistles being blown, etc.

  1. It's crazy how much can change in just five short years, huh?! Ella was such a trooper - and even cuter in person than in pictures. What a fun weekend it was!
