My goal for the new year is to somehow catch up and keep up with the blog - obviously something I've been lacking at and just can't keep up with! So I'm starting fresh with the new year going forward, and will simultaneously be backdating posts from July-December 2016 so they're in order for my 2016 blog book. I just posted our trip to Chelan we took in July and other July pics here! My hope is to be caught up with 2016 by the end of 2017. I JUST printed our 2015 blog book...yikes!
I'm labeling this post 9 months, even though Everett is 10 months old now, because I wanted to document his 9 month growth after his doctor's appointment.
Everett's stats at 9 months (he was actually 9.5 months at the appointment due to the holidays and new insurance kicking in):
Length: 31.73 inches (100th percentile)
Weight: 25 lbs 3 oz (99th percentile)
Head circumference: 18.66 in. (98th percentile)
He is 5 pounds more than Ella at this age, 2 pounds more than Lucy, and 2 inches taller than both girls at 9 months! His doctor told me he's the average size of a 17 month old and he's generally wearing 12-18 or 18 month clothes. Love our big guy!
Some new changes and things I want to remember about him in this last month...
He's started doing an army crawl and can get anywhere he wants to now. He hasn't figured out he'd go a lot faster with his belly off the ground, but it doesn't seem to stop him. His favorite thing is to crawl up on the fireplace hearth and bang against the glass. Yikes! We have to make sure the gas fireplace is off pretty much all the time now so he doesn't burn himself. He also loves crawling towards all the toys the girls leave out and has started torturing Lily by grabbing her fur when she least expects it :).
He says "mama"! It's usually when he's crying or whining, but I'm counting it as a first intentional word. He looks right at me and says it!
He's been consistently sleeping through the night for the past few months - yay! There's still the random nights where he'll wake up and cry for awhile, but he generally sleeps from 7pm-6:30am. On weekends I can sometimes feed him when he wakes up around 6:30, and he'll go back to sleep for a a few more hours. The girls now play quietly together when they wake up on non-school days, so there's been a few dreamy days when Cody and I have actually gotten to sleep in! He's also figured out how to sit up and pull up on the side of the crib, so when he wakes up now, he's up, rather than just laying there and waiting for us to come get him.
He's eating solids and loves trying new foods. He's started to differentiate textures and makes the funniest faces when he doesn't like something. Recent dislikes include peaches and avocado (I think because they're slippery!) and he made the funniest sour face when he tried blueberries. He loves fruit and veggie purees (often mixed with quinoa or oatmeal), cheese, yogurt, bread, chicken, turkey, noodles, etc. He generally eats 3 solid meals a day and nurses in between. He's completely given up bottles, but it's nice to know we can supplement with solids when I'm out for a bit.
He's started clapping and recognizes the word "clap!" when we ask him to.
He LOVES the bath. I think it's his favorite thing in the world. He starts squealing and kicking his legs and arms when he hears the water turn on in the tub. He splashes and kicks so much water out of the tub, but it's so cute to see how happy he is!
He does not sit still! We have to be way more careful with him on the changing table than we did with the girls because he will roll, scoot and kick himself off if we're not right there.
He is just such a happy, jolly kid! I never worry about him crying while we're out because he always does so great and charms everyone with his big toothless grin. He does especially great for how often he gets woken up early from his naps to pick up his sisters from various activities. I try to let him get in at least one solid two hour nap at home, depending on our schedule, and he usually takes one or two other short naps, often in the car. He doesn't seem to mind though, and continues to just go with the flow.
He's never shown any major stranger anxiety, but he has started to show preferences for mom. When he's tired or hungry at the end of the day he just wants to be held or interacted with, and is often not happy until he's in mom's arms.
I can't believe I'm already thinking about his first birthday party! I have loved every moment and really enjoyed his "babyhood". It makes me cry to think we'll soon not have a baby in the house!
