10 Months Old

It's amazing how fast babies change around 9-12 months.  I feel like Lucy is doing something new everyday and it's so fun to watch her personality emerging.  She constantly makes us smile and laugh and we can't imagine our lives without our sweet girl!  She continues to be pretty social and reminds of us Ella at this age.  She loves making eye contact with strangers and being a little flirt with her big goofy smiles.  I love how baby's smiles are so infectious!  We were at a restaurant recently and she literally had the whole place (especially the grandmas) staring and smiling at her as she grinned at anyone who looked at her and babbled away loudly.

Lucy's top two teeth had just cut through in her 9 month post, and now those teeth are fully coming in, along with another one on the top.  So she currently has 5 teeth with one more on the top on the way in.

In the last few weeks she's changed her tune about baby food and has actually started eating purees and yogurt and seems to be loving it - finally!  It's nice to know she's getting more food in her through solids and it gives me a little more time to be away from her knowing she can get food other ways.  She'll at least try most foods and lets us know if she doesn't like something by immediately spitting it out.  She makes some pretty hilarious faces when she tastes new foods. And she'll actually eat meat!  Ella never really did when she was a baby and still to this day is mostly vegetarian.  But Lucy will eat chicken, sausage, turkey, roast beef, etc. 

Lucy is on the go!  She is constantly on the move and always makes a beeline for the thing she's not supposed to have.  She is obsessed with crawling into the fireplace, goes right for every cord, opens cabinets she's not supposed to get into, stands up in her crib and tries to grab her monitor, and loves to pull out the internet modem under our TV stand.  We are chasing her all over the place and realizing we have some major baby proofing to do.  It makes it hard to get anything done as we can't just leave her to play in one area anymore.  I guess we lucked out with Ella as we could tell her no a few times and she'd leave things alone...not so much with Lucy.  She is determined and kind of crazy when it comes to getting what she wants.  It often takes her a good 20-30 minutes to fall asleep when I put her down for a nap as she loves to sit up and play with her binkies, roll all over the place, and pull up on the side of the crib (time to lower the mattress!).

She's working on clapping and signing for "more".  She'll do them every once in awhile, but we're not sure she understands the difference between the two.  She does know how to use her pointer finger though!  I think it's so cute when she points to things, feels things with her pointer finger, touches pages in books, etc. but she also likes to poke her sister with that little pointer finger ;).

While Lucy shows her love for Ella and I with her big smiles, cuddles, kisses, and laughs, she just LOVES her daddy.  She lights up with the biggest smile when she sees him and will crawl just about anywhere to see him if he's stepped out of her view.  Her first intentional word with meaning was "dada" and she constantly says it around him.  I'm pretty sure the adoration is mutual as she has him wrapped around her finger. We think she's been trying to say "hi" with something that sounds like "haaa" so she constantly says "haaa dada, haaa dada".

 Her hair is a dirty blonde color, but in some light it looks really light and almost golden...

I love that she'll often let me hold her when she's going to sleep - she is such a cuddly girl!  If I didn't have things to do everyday, I would let her sleep on me through all her naps and soak it in...

Valentine's Day

MUAH! Happy Valentine's Day from our girls!  We had fun making valentines this year and sharing them with family and friends.  Thank you to Pinterest for this year's valentine idea! 

We had a few variations of our valentines - Ella got to take valentine's for her preschool classmates for their party, but because there are so many kids with allergies in the class, we wanted to be safe and used whistles for the lips instead of chocolates.  Ella had way more fun with her whistle anyways :)...

Cody still gives me a hard time about how much it cost to send suckers through the mail with our valentines a few years ago, so we opted to send flat picture cards to some family members and friends.  I found these little cellophane bags that were fun to send through the mail...

Ella helped me make heart shaped sugar cookies earlier in the week - her favorite part was definitely licking the frosting off the spatula...

On actual Valentine's Day, we had little gifts for the girls to open in the morning...

  Ella had to put on her Belle dress when we got home from dinner because she was given a rose just like the one in Beauty and the Beast.  She was so excited about getting her own rose and kept thanking Cody over and over.  So sweet! We finished off the night with Pinkabella cupcakes...

Super Bowl

We had to document a pretty big day - the first time our beloved Seahawks won the Super Bowl!  Our girls' future husbands can thank Cody someday for making them football fans since birth :).  Ella can actually name more Seahawk players (and most of their positions) than I can.  She loves her Russell Wilson because "he's cute" and loves Skittles because of Marshawn Lynch.  She refers to them as "my buddies".  She'll usually make it through at least half a game wearing her jersey before she decides to change into dress up clothes.  We've loved our Sunday afternoons watching Seahawks games as a family this season and needless to say we were pretty excited about them going to the Super Bowl.

And so fun to be part of it all....we loved all the honking cars, 12 flags, and blue and green lit up buildings as we drove through Seattle on the way home. Go Hawks!
